What are you creating? Let’s Assess.

A recurring theme of thoughts, intentions and manifesting has come up over the last few days. I thought while hitting up the treadmill and doing a little test on myself {it’s important to be a guinea pig ;-)} that I would put forward to you a couple of simple exercises that you can do to check in with yourself and see where you’re at and where you made need to do some shifting, changing and altering of some of those thoughts feeding your mind consciously and subconsciously.

The other day I popped a quote on social media. It is below:

“Look closely at the present you are constructing, it should look like the future you are dreaming”

This also coincided with some reading I had been doing from Esther and Jerry Hicks {Abraham} regarding your thoughts are not only your affirmations, lists, vision boards or even CBT {my addition} but every moment throughout the day. Those times where you are on autopilot with your thinking, where you revert back to old thinking habits or where you think only that which you have always known, your schema, your long held thought patterns and inner dialogue. These are the actual moments that you are creating your future. You can believe and say your exercises {affirmations et al.} as much as you want to. It can work to a point but the other hours in the day? If you are belittling yourself, have negative expectations or self doubt or really just don’t think that good things can happen to you then how are you constructing that future you desire?

There are a couple of ways to look at it, take your pick. If you have two opposing trains of thought then of course you will not be clear about the future you are wanting to work toward or the goals you want to achieve. Two minds or conscious/subconscious are doing battle. It could even be conscious versus conscious, your negative self talk is that strong.

The other perspective is if you think of it as ordering from the universe and being clear about your thoughts, it’s like asking for the divine decadent chocolate mudcake and then telling the waiter, no sorry I’m on a diet can I only have a small piece of the last bit of that cake you’ve got left over, someone else can have the delicious slice you offered me. What the?! Or even more so, you could be trying to eat that scrumptious cake with your right hand but your left hand keeps taking the dessert fork away telling you that you’ve had enough, you don’t need it, and any other negative or derogatory phrases.

You are not working with yourself but against yourself whichever way you look at it. So! Here’s what I have decided. I’m going to challenge you, and me of course! Head on over to the Bringing Spirit Into The Everyday Facebook page tomorrow {Wednesday} and every hour on the hour from 8am til 9pm I am going to send out a reminder to check your thoughts! It will be stop; what are you thinking; Is it helpful to your positive self view; write it down; change it to a positive self statement that contributes “to the future you are dreaming”.

This will start to get you into the habit of checking the formation of your thoughts, reviewing if they are positive or negative and importantly are they working towards your hopes, wishes and goals of the future.

Yes it sounds very similar to CBT, the difference? I’m not just asking you to change your negative thinking. I’m asking you to think about and change your thoughts to the wonderful dreams and goals you have. You don’t just leave that thinking for a special occasion. You need to nurture that precious wish of yours every single day!

I think one exercise will be draining enough for you on your mindfulness and headspace for this task. I’ll pop the other one up at the end of the week. Look out for it!

Stop. Think. Write. Adjust. Dream Focus Thoughts. Say Aloud. Repeat! 🙂
