Bringing Little Spirit ~ Feelings #7

Positive Self Talk. Create a poster of “I am” positive statements. Self talk is important in creating the reality you want. Therefore for children and youth it is a great tool to encourage them to think good thoughts about themselves from an early age. We are all very good at judging ourselves or not thinking we are good enough, children also particularly if they are anxious, worried or get sad easily. “I am” statements are great to formulate and are a fantastic tool to have on hand to remind how special the child or youth is. It’s important as a coping strategy but also great at building and maintaining self esteem. Use any descriptive words that make the youth remember how wonderful they are and what is so individual for them, why they are one of a kind. Even if they find it hard to connect with the statements initially, it’s a way in which they can evolve into them if that’s what characteristic they love. If you would like an example of this exercise please comment below and I can upload it for you.
